This jade cong, with its circular hollow and carved outer body, exemplifies the ritual art of the Liangzhu culture. The form, combining circle and square, symbolized the union of heaven and earth. Such objects were placed in elite burials, reflecting both spiritual beliefs and the high value of jade in early Chinese society.
